Story That Shaped my Life

In the summer of 2010 I was chosen from an entertainment school (John Robert Powers) to participate in iPOP (International Presentation of Performance) in Las Vegas. I had the opportunity to perform and dance with so many different people from around the world. It really was a once in a life experience. I was lucky enough to be a part of this function and work with professional dancers and famous choreographers, like Jeri Slaughter. This trip gave me a taste of the professional life of dance and I truly enjoyed every moment. This experience was the eye opener to what I actually wanted to do with my future, and that is to become a professional dancer and one day own a dance studio. I was chosen as one of the top ten dancers out of 300 possible candidates. That alone made me feel like I was good enough and I was truly a part of something important to me. It was an experience that shaped my life to who I am today and why I'm here at Columbia today.
