Rumspringa & The Amish Youth

I don’t know how I feel about the method of Rumspringa in the Amish community. I think that it is almost unfair to confine and limit the kids their whole lives and then all of a sudden present them with complete freedom. I would find that particularly confusing because it seems to contradict that which had been taught to me my whole life. I would feel caught between the morals of the community and my desire to explore that which I have been deprived of. I think that it is ultimately important for the individual to decide based off of what is right for them and not let the morals of the society make them feel obligated to one particular lifestyle. I believe in self-indulgence and that our ultimate goal in life should be to make ourselves happy.
