I feel that she chooses the comic book strip to appeal not for younger audiences but to show the types of literature she used to understand the events and politics going on around her at the time. The comic book strips are simple text, with a lot of illustration to show her ideals and thoughts in addition to texts such as dialogue, cliff notes, and dates.
