I like the format in which Marjane Satrapi chose to portray her story.  I think by using the comic style she targets more of a young audience, to help us understand.  The color choice interests me as well, the black and white.  Possibly saying that life in Iran was in black and white at the time, not shades of grey.  I do believe young children see things as good or bad, there are good guys and there are bad guys and using this color technique expresses this younger feel.
